As a cherished, family-friendly retreat, Otter Cove is nestled quietly on the Indian Pass Lagoon. The home is centrally located between Port Saint Joe, Cape San Blas, and Apalachicola, surrounded by exceptional fresh water and salt water fishing opportunities and kayak adventures. The nearest boat ramp and public beach access are less than 3 miles away. Otter Cove also resides exactly 1 mile from the world-famous, Indian Pass Raw Bar. The perfect location for an evening hangout that includes great food, karaoke, and live music.
Water and woods border the property, while the front entrance fence and gate close it off. This provides complete privacy to indulge in OC’s prosperous, exterior space that include a fire-pit with complimentary firewood, a Weber charcoal grill, custom built picnic table, horseshoes, croquet, darts, basketball, and tetherball. The outdoor shower area has bonus storage space for fishing poles and beach items.
Captured from the screened in back-porch, is an expansive, panoramic view of the Indian Pass golden marsh. Sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. Guests are treated with many appearances by local wildlife. The main attraction being the otters playing in the pond. Other nature sightings include a variety of birds ranging from bald eagles, hawks, osprey, herons, pelicans, cardinals, woodpeckers, and martins. In addition, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, tree frogs, toads, skinks, blue racers, and fiddler crabs are all daily visitors.
Lavished throughout the interior are designer furnishings and antique accents that welcome guests with cozy vibes. The kitchen is fully stocked and equipped with brand new Frigidaire appliances. The living room entertainment includes a 50” Samsung Smart TV and blu-ray player, fishing library, and board games. A movie collection and childrens library are neatly displayed in the living room closet.
There are two first floor bedrooms with ample storage closets and a full bath. Located in the hall is the laundry area. A front-loading Maytag washer/dryer, built-in counter top, iron and ironing board are provided in this space.
Heading upstairs, to your left, is the reading nook, and off to your right is an alcove with a twin bed and window exposing the best view of the marsh. The second floor bedroom is spaciously airy with a full bath. It’s large, lofty-style closet has built-in storage shelving with his and hers wardrobe sides. This bedroom has a 43” Roku Smart TV.
Otter Cove History:
Meticulously selected by the owners, each room has specific, sentimental pieces that have been incorporated to preserve the memory of their loved one who sought refuge at his peaceful haven. The family is honored to open up this sacred ground; allowing others to create lasting memories while finding their own sense of serenity.
The real staple of the home was once the water wheel house. Every churn of the wheel displayed a true labor of love, as it was creatively built from scratch in 2014 by a very beloved father and papaw. Sadly, Hurricane Micheal swept it away in October 2018; however, the young grandson of its founder has plans to rebuild in the near future.
